IRISH THORACIC SOCIETY ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING CORK 2010

WELCOME

Dear Colleague,

It is my pleasure to bring you details of the Irish Thoracic Society (ITS) Annual Scientific Meeting 2010 which will take place in the Silver Springs Moran Hotel, Cork on the 5th and 6th November. The meeting has gone from strength to strength in recent years and we will be making every effort to ensure this trend continues in 2010.

Special features of this year’s meeting include two Symposia featuring a distinguished line-up of national and international speakers - one on Pulmonary Vascular Disease and the other on Allergic and Occupational Disease. We are delighted to be hosting the latter in conjunction with the North of England Thoracic Society (NETS) and we look forward to welcoming our colleagues from the North of England to the meeting.

The presentation of original research in both oral and poster form will be a central focus. Recent years have seen a record number of high quality submissions and we look forward to similar levels this year. The poster exhibition in particular has grown significantly and in order to accommodate its expansion this year’s exhibition will again be split across both days. Abstracts are now invited and can be submitted online here .  Please note the deadline for receipt of abstracts is Monday 6th  September 2010.

The programme also includes forums for individual groups such as nurses, physiotherapists, respiratory scientists and paediatricians.

Of course the meeting is also a great social event and Friday’s programme will end with the Gala Dinner, a great opportunity for networking and catching up with friends and colleagues. There will be regular updates on the meeting over the coming months and we encourage you to check back frequently.
