IRISH THORACIC SOCIETY ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING GALWAY 2009
WELCOME
Dear Colleague
It is our pleasure to bring you details of the Irish Thoracic Society (ITS) Annual Scientific Meeting 2009 which will take place in the Galway Bay Hotel, Galway on the 6th and 7th November. The meeting has grown in recent years in both attendance and educational content and we are delighted to present a programme that promises to continue this trend for 2009.
As ever, the presentation of original research in both oral and poster form will feature strongly. Last year’s meeting saw a record number of high quality submissions and we look forward to similar levels this year. The poster exhibition in particular has grown significantly and in order to accommodate its expansion this year’s exhibition will be split across both days.
We are pleased to present two Symposia, one on Tuberculosis/Sarcoidosis and the other on Sleep Disorders, both featuring a distinguished line-up of national and international speakers.
The former will include discussions on the pathogenesis of sarcoidosis and the merits of interferon release assays versus tuberculin skin testing in the diagnosis of latent tuberculosis. The latter will look at narcolepsy, cardiovascular complications of OSAS, and Restless legs syndrome.
The programme also includes sessions for individual groups such as nurses (ANAIL), physiotherapists (CPRC), respiratory scientists (IARS), the Paediatric Sub-group of the Irish Thoracic Society and a multi-disciplinary meeting hosted by the Irish Association of Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Of course the meeting is also a great social event and as ever Friday’s programme will end with the Gala Dinner, a great opportunity for friends and colleagues to catch up.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to Galway in November and we hope you will join us for what promises to be a highly valuable, thought provoking and social meeting.
