ITS Member Awarded Cournand Lecture

Dr. Silke Ryan of St. Vincent’s and UCD has been awarded the prestigious Cournand Lecture by the European Respiratory Society for her work over the last decade in relation to the regulation of inflammatory pathways in obstructive sleep apnoea, and their involvement in the pathogenesis of cardiometabolic co-morbidities.

The Cournand Lecture is awarded every 3 years to the most successful young investigator in any field of respiratory disease and will be the flagship lecture of this year’s ERS Annual Congress in Amsterdam. The Lecture rotates annually with other keynote lectures such as the Sadoul Lecture which was delivered last year.

This award is a high profile acknowledgement of research excellence and Dr Ryan is the first researcher in Ireland to be awarded one of these Lectures.
